Keelcrab Hull Cleaning Service
Keeping your boat's hull clean is crucial for maintaining optimal performance, fuel efficiency, and preserving the integrity of your vessel. That's where our keelcrab hull cleaning service comes in. Our experienced operators utilize state-of-the-art keelcrab technology to safely and effectively remove marine growth from the submerged areas of your boat's hull.
The keelcrab is a remote-controlled, underwater cleaning device that uses rotating discs to gently scrub the hull without damaging the surface. This innovative approach allows us to clean your boat's hull quickly and thoroughly, restoring a smooth, hydrodynamic finish that will maximize your boat's speed and handling.
Unlike traditional hull cleaning methods that often require hauling your boat out of the water, our keelcrab service can be performed in-situ, saving you the time and expense of dry dock. Our skilled operators will work around your schedule to ensure minimal disruption to your boating activities.
Keelcrab will extend the life of your antifouling and reduce your fuel costs.

Keelcrab FAQ
Can I clean the entire hull surface
The KeelKrab drone is able to clean up to 95-97% of the surface of a displacement hull of a sailing vessel in the range 10-24 meters and 85-87% of a planing or semi-planing hull of a motor boat in the 10-24 meter range.
Does Keelcrab remove encrustations
Our brushes are designed to remove coral, vegetation and algae without
removing the underlying antifouling which, in numerous tests in a
simulated environment, does not find any micro-metric variation before or after several passes of the drone. Regular cleaning aimed at bringing the antifouling back into direct contact with water also prevents the formation of barnacles.
How often do I need to use Keelcrab
It depends on various factors such as the temperature and type of water, the presence of freshwater tributaries, seasonality and above all the type of antifouling chemical product chosen. Our experience suggests use with a variable frequency from monthly to quarterly.
We offer a variety of packages from one off cleans/inpections to multi clean packages.
How long does a clean take
On average, cleaning will take approximately 2.5 square metres a minute.
10 metre boat – 1 hour
18 metre boat – 3 hours
30 metre boat – 5 hours
All timings are subject to keel condition, weather conditions and location of the boat.
Does Keelcrab remove anti-fouling paint?
Our A.N.C.C.P. certified brushes the result of countless tests on the resulting micrometry (pre and post robot passage) in a simulated environment (with even water analysis) confirms that Keelcrab has the utmost respect for all classified fixed-matrix (i.e., non-water-soluble) silicone (or silicone film) surfaces and antifouling, and indeed its use extends the useful life of the chemical by timely removing the first layers of vegetation maintaining direct contact with water.
Does regular use of KeelKrab affect the anti-fouling paint?
Anti-fouling paint is a “biocide” that works most efficiently when water vigorously passes over it, when static for long period it is at its least efficient in preventing marine growth. Testing, use and testimonials from users shows that regular cleaning with KeelKrab can significantly enhance both the effectiveness and life of the anti-foul. Some users reapplying only every 3-5 years as opposed to annually.
